Tempe is full of exciting attractions all year around. Starting in January, the Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon and Half Marathon attracting over 1,000 people each year. Also in January is the Fiesta Bowl, played at Sun Devil Stadium, is a NCAA Football BCS Bowl Game. Sun Devil Stadium was also the host of the NFL team Arizona Cardinals from 1988 until 2005, until they moved across town to the University of Phoenix Stadium. Sun Devil Stadium currently hosts the Arizona State University Sun Devils football team.
Tempe is home to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim's spring training, cactus league team at Diablo Stadium.
Tempe has numerous parks, soccer fields, lighted tennis courts, pools, and golf courses. With plenty of sunny weather, developed bike paths and miles of desert mountain hiking trails surrounding our city, Tempe is a destination of choice for those looking for the perfect place to train for their next race. Hikers, mountain bikers and runners will be challenged on the trails at South Mountain Park and Papago Park.
Aside from the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL playing next door in Phoenix, the Phoenix Suns NBA team, Phoenix Coyotes NHL team, and the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball also make their home just a short drive away in Phoenix. |
