One of the main draws for many young people to the city of Tempe in Arizona is that it is home to the main campus of Arizona State University. This upper education institution has been in operation in Tempe since the late 1800s and has since expanded to become the largest university in the state of Arizona. The campus in Tempe is the original campus of the university, and has come a long way from its origins through natural evolution as well as construction, incorporating everything from industrial vehicles to lifting slings.
The campus in Tempe itself has almost 53,000 students enrolled in the various programs within the onsite schools and colleges. It is home to some of the most important landmarks in the Tempe area, and is one of the more scenic areas in the town as well. There is also a very popular downtown area close by, complete with original night clubs (some so exclusive that the only way to get in is through specially made business cards online) and restaurants attracting the university crowd.
The campus itself houses some important schools and colleges. Here are a few of them.
Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law
This school of law was founded in 1964, and is considered to be one of the best in the entire country. Indeed, don't be surprised to find a successful Hamilton Ontario lawyer in possession of a degree from ASU, which is a member of the Order of Coif.
In addition to the law school itself, SDOCCL offers a Masters of Legal Studies, Doctorate of Medicine, and Doctorate of Business Administration. Many of its offerings are joint degrees.
Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts
This college's main focus is on the fine arts, although in recent years it has expanded and today includes many technology and engineering based research programs. Included in these programs are the Arts, Media, and Engineering Program, which focuses on electronic design and manufacturing in many different areas. The Institute is well known as one of the leaders in arts research and promotion throughout the state of Arizona.
WP Carey School of Business
One of the true highlights of Arizona State University is the WP Carey School of Business. With over 7000 graduates and undergraduates enrolled each year, it is one of the largest schools of its kind in the United States. The school is known to have great success in placing its graduates in high paying positions throughout the world.
The programs at the WP Carey School of Business include everything from Financial Management and Markets to entrepreneurship. In other words, students can find any business niche they wish, whether they want to be estate managers or sell ladies' pants in a store of their own.
Apart from the educational benefits Arizona State University has to offer, it also attracts a lot of business to the Tempe area. Companies hungry for highly qualified new graduates have set up shop close by, in order to better recruit from this fresh field.
All in all, ASU is an incredibly important part of the makeup of the city of Tempe Arizona.
